About US:

M-KOPA Solar is the global leader of “pay-as-you-go” energy for off-grid customers. Since its commercial launch in October 2012, M-KOPA has connected more than 600,000 homes in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda to solar power, and is now adding over 500 new homes each day. The success of M-KOPA (M= mobile, KOPA= to borrow) stems from making solar products affordable to low-income households on a pay-per-use installment plan. Customers acquire solar systems for a small deposit and then purchase daily usage “credits” for US $0.45, or less than the price of traditional kerosene lighting. After one year of payments customers own their solar systems outright and can upgrade to more power.

Job Summary:   The Urban Sales Officer should have no experience or one year experience to sell our ‘pay-as-you-go solar home systems.

Key Duties and Responsibilities: 

·         Deliver against set sales targets for TV solar home system.

·         Penetrate the Kampala area to make TV sales.

·         Uphold the brand values of M-KOPA, and adhere to serving customers with good customer skills.

·         Selling and explaining the benefits of ‘pay-as-you-go solar home systems to new Clients

·         Talking to existing clients that may want to upgrade.

·         Following up on prospects and referrals.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 

·         The ideal candidate for the M-KOPA Solar Urban Sales Officer job must have sales experience

·         Confidence

·         Willing to learn and earn.

·         Must be willing and able to walk extensively within assigned territory and work

·         Excellent negotiation, communication and teamwork skills.

·         Good planning and organizational skills

·         Ability to work calmly under pressure

·         Must have highly developed communication skills

·         Can speak publicly with confidence and poise

·         Have a strong sense of ambition, self-motivation, and self-discipline

·         Resourceful problem solver

·         Open-minded with a passion for learning and earning.

·         Naturally outgoing and articulate individual who thrives in social settings

·         Willing to maintain the highest level of sales ethics and integrity
