The objective of the NetHope Mobile Phone Program is to increase access to mobile phone technology and mobile phone services among vulnerable populations in West Nile Refugee Settlements and surrounding host communities. In addition, the program incorporates an element of market integration designed to improve supply chains between larger regional distributors (In this case, we are working with AIRTEL Uganda) and local traders in the settlements of Bidibidi in Yumbe, Palorinya in Moyo and Rhino Camp in Arua.
Job Summary:  The followings are the objectives of the graduate program which include but not limited to:
  • Gain learnings in access to technology in humanitarian/refugee setting in Yumbe, Moyo and Arua
  • Learn the operational details of working with private sector partners and NGOs in the field and gain firsthand experience with technology for development programming
  • Research and work with the Program Manager to choose software for smart phones that is relevant to Mercy Corps’ programming. Design and work with the program team to implement trainings on use of applications for business development, savings tracking, budgeting and similar topics.
  • Develop case studies of success stories for use of smart and basic phones within the refugee settlements as well as a learning document on governance models related to solar home charging systems
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Planning, Developing and implementing humanitarian mobile access activities by:
  • Prepare and submit timely weekly and monthly reports on program process through coordination with the program team
  • A short (maximum 5-pages) report detailing applications for smart phones that are relevant to Mercy Corps programming, pros and cons in addition to cost analysis.
  • Develop and implement a work plan for identifying, downloading and training beneficiaries on a range of smart phone applications.
  • Participating in mobilization, sensitization, training of beneficiaries both Refugees and Host
  • Support implementation of community mobilizers and village traders training
  • Support any potential market assessment and data gathering, Post Distribution Monitoring (PDM), and endline data gathering as needed.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the Mercy Corps Program Graduate Trainee job opportunity should hold a bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Business Studies, Rural Development, Computer Science or related field is desirable and preferred.
  • Candidate must be a self-starter, motivated and able to work independently and take initiative. The successful candidate will also have good English language, verbal and written communication skills;

PURPOSE OF POSITION: The purpose of the position is to manage all Food Distribution Point (FDP) interventions geared towards systematic and quality food commodity distribution to the refugees in Palabek refugee settlement Lamwo District Northern Uganda. Ensure the WFP aid program at the FDP is carried out in line with WFP and CESVI standards while providing responsive accountability at all stages of the food distribution in the field. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
 Responsible for the overall field implementation of day to day food distribution interventions in the field, ensuring all food distribution arms are functional in conformity with CESVI and WFP standards.
 Work with WFP, UNHCR and OPM to develop and approve clear and concise Food Assistance community communication strategies, SOPs and support timely roll out of community outreaches to address refugee anxiety, avert tension within the Food sector group and communities.

 Maintain a comprehensive commodity tracking system so as to ensure that all commodities are properly distributed and accounted for in line with CESVI and WFP standards.
 Prepare all necessary forms related to food distribution i.e. sign receipt waybill, fill in the truck inspection report, random weighing form, distribution point visit report, certificate of food receipt and distribution, loss damage reports etc.
 Ensure that the required periodic reports are generated in respect of the Food distribution interventions relating to the FDP.

Job Summary:    The Field Monitor – Cash will mobilize community for distribution, set up distribution according to World Vision and donor (WFP) standard distribution procedures and provide end user monitoring and accurate documentation on all commodity distributions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
Community mobilization and registration
  • Community mobilization and coordination of food distribution activities at the FDPs in liaison with the Food Management Committee and Local leaders.

Immediately record all quantities delivered short (missing), quantities lost in transit and quantities damaged if any. All observations must be recorded immediately. Commodities must carefully be counted during off-loading.
  • At the distribution center, commodities must be stacked in an organized manner, by commodity type to facilitate easy distribution. Stack commodities to the dot (no scooping except for vegetable oil).
  • Return all excess commodities received at FDP to the warehouse using Return to Store waybill.
  • Perform random weighing of the commodities offloaded from the truck to ascertain that they are of correct weight as indicated in the waybill.
  • Supervise food distribution in a manner that will ensure all targeted beneficiaries receive all the planned commodities and in their rightful rations.
  • Conduct caucus meeting with FMCs and local leaders to agree on roles and responsibilities during distribution.
  • Conduct pre-distribution meeting to sensitize and inform beneficiaries about commodities in the food basket, ration sizes, nutrition and hygiene messages and any other issues to be communicated to them. Give beneficiaries an opportunity to ask question for clarification.
  • Ensure that appropriate crowd control measure is in place at the distribution point at all times.
  • Ensure all beneficiaries are processed to receive food using LMMS.
  • Ensure there is orderly lining, receiving food and sharing.
  • Conduct random weighing of rations received by beneficiaries to establish whether they are getting rightful rations.
  • Provide proper accountability of commodities distributed at the food distribution point.
  • Prepare all necessary forms related to food distribution i.e. sign receipt waybill, fill in the truck inspection report, random weighing form, distribution center visit report, certificate of food receipt and distribution, loss damage reports etc.
  • Print out the distribution list from the LMMS. Ensure that distribution list tally with manual reports.
  • Ensure all forms and reports are completely filled and reviewed and approved by relevant staff.
  • Ensure commodity forms and reports are filed according to agreed filing format.
Supervision of Food Management and Complaints Help Desk Committees
  • Mobilize and supervise beneficiaries to the elect FMC and CHD committee members in each FDP.
  • Organize and conduct training of FMCs and CHD committee members on their roles and responsibilities.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

  • The Goodman Accountant should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance/ Business Administration.
  • At least ACCA Level  II or C.P.A II or equivalent professional qualification 
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a busy Commercial Organization.
  • Working knowledge of Tally Accounting package and MS Office Packages (MS Excel, Word and Power point.).
  • Conversant with Taxation and Statutory Deductions (P.A.Y.E, VAT & NSSF)
    Able to work independently and produces financial statements for management decision making.
  • Keen attention to details-accuracy in reports is of paramount importance.
  • Ability to maintain accurate debtors’ ledger accounts with monthly collection and reconciliations.

Uganda Clays Limited is Uganda’s leading manufacturer of quality clay baked construction products since 1950 and is listed on Uganda’s Securities Exchange. The head offices are located at 14Km on Entebbe Road, with a factory situated at Kamonkoli in Eastern Uganda and another at Mbarara Sales Outlet.
Job Summary: The Head of Sales and Marketing will be leading the development and implementation of Uganda Clays’ (UCL) Marketing, Sales and Distribution strategies; contributing to the success of UCL by ensuring that income from sales is in line with the targets expressed in the Business Plan.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Actively contribute to the executive management of Uganda Clays and ensure that sales and marketing activities support corporate goals.
  • Ensure that department goals match with corporate goals.
  • Ensure that UCL is actively engaged in establishing and strengthening strategic relations with stakeholders and influencers.
  • Steer the Sales and Marketing Team in a way that empowers them to sell and market UCL products efficiently and effectively, and deliver excellent customer service.
  • Ensure proper and effective utilisation of the finances associated with Sales and Marketing.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
  • The applicant must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Commerce, Business Administration with specialisation in Marketing from a recognised institution.
  • MBA or Advanced Degree in Marketing.
  • CIM qualification.
  • At least ten years of sales and or marketing experience, three of which must have been in similar position.
  • Good working knowledge in ERP, particularly Navision or such related software.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Highly structured and self-driven work approach.
